𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 is the study of space and all that exists in the Universe around our planet. It studies all objects we can observe or determine by any technological means, and examines by all possible methods the nature of those objects and their many properties and interactions, and is dedicated to understanding the Universe and our relationship with it through these methods.
𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, by contrast, is the study of all objects, points and angular sections of various sizes and types in surrounding space that we can observe or discover, their properties, orbital patterns and angular interrelationships, and how these interrelationships correspond to and with simultaneous events, conditions and entities on our planet, and how this information can be used to obtain further information about our own lives, other entities, events and conditions in the past, present and future, using our ability to mathematically determine the state of surrounding space based on a specific location at whatever time we choose to investigate.
Central and foundational to the discipline of Astrology is the maxim, 𝑨𝒔 𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝑺𝒐 𝑩𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒘, which resumes a relationship between our world and surrounding space as interconnected and synchronistically mutually reflective; specifically focusing on the relationship of surrounding space with specific locations on Earth at specific times.
While there are still many astrologers and students of astrology who assume this maxim implies that planets and other objects in surrounding space can cause or influence what happens on our world, the maxim by itself DOES NOT extend to imply that low-level causal relationship, which can be understood more clearly by examining the rest of the maxim.
The full maxim is stated:𝐀𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐒𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰,
𝐀𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧, 𝐒𝐨 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭;
𝐀𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞, 𝐒𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥.
